Hands on comics workshop around George Herriman / Krazy Kat with Stéphane Noël, Pascal Matthey and other comic artists. Erwin Dejasse will contextualise the work of Herriman.

We know Krazy Kat thanks to the expressive powers of the drawings in and the strangeness of the universe in which he appears. His arrival in the public domain is the occasion to dissect the talent of the comic artist George Herriman and we do this literally: with scalpel and glue.

Together with whoever feels like joining them, Stéphane Noël, Pascal Matthey and some other comic writers will throw themselves at this with dedication. On the programme: savage remounting cutting and pasting of strips, complete removal of personages from a drawing, rewriting of gags using the text of The Little Prince of de Saint-Exupéry.

A printer and photocopier and a selection of strips allow us to improvise on the spot. The resulting works will be micro-difused in fanzine form and published on the collaborative website www.grandpapier.org.

Art historian Erwin Dejasse, who is specialised in comics, will contextualise this extra ordinary work.

Live Soundtrack by Jean-Philippe Salou and Benjamin Chaval on Italy’s first long feature film, "Inferno" (1911) based on Dante’s work.

Inferno is considered to be the first Italian feature film. It is an adaptation of the first verse of Dantes Divina Comedia. Its ambition was to elevate cinema from the context of funny fairs to the level of the high arts. Composed of impressive scene’s that are inspired by the graphics of Gustave Doré, "Inferno" surprises with its liberty and by the recurring display of nude bodies. Thanks to the many visual tricks, double exposures and superimpositions, the film stunned spectators at the time. Without a doubt seeing the film today will still be a spectacular experience.
