A Voukoum, in Guadeloupian creole means riot and rebellion, a huge and noisy movement, a shamble that provokes the political and artistic awakening of the people, of the "vyé nèg" (old negroes). It is also the name given to members of the cultural movement: Mouveman Kiltirel Voukoum that has been active in the poor district of “Bas du bourg” in Basse Terre, Guadeloupe since the 1980s.

Heritage is an experimental and musical short documentary, inspired by the famous Afro-American feminist Angela Davis’s text: Blues legacies and black feminism.
The film questions commitment by the view of history. In texts, dances, musical creations or pictures traces of emancipation desires of those who came before us lie here and now. To resist to dominations of genre, of ethnic or class origin, don’t these strong lines often remain necessary in spite of the actual social advances, whether they are real or fantasized...
Heritage is a cinematographic essay which stages these questionings, based on three blues major singers from the 20th century: Gertrude Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday.
Michel Henritzi, the guitar player in “Héritage” is a unique musician of the French noise rock scene. Previously a member of the band Nox, today he plays with Dust Breeders, writes for Revue & Corrigée and manages the music label À Bruit Secret. He enjoys delving into his interest for Japanese music culture that he integrates into his own music.
