An exceptional invitation to two major directors : the Algerian Tariq Teguia and the Swiss Fernand Melgar. Despite the diversity of their approaches, one like the other anchors his work in our most vivid present, often at the margin, with at stake the borders and their effects on body and mind.
"Le monde est comme ça" (The world is like that) from Fernand Melgar and "Revolution Zendj" from Tariq Teguia will both be screened in Belgian avant-première, and followed by a discussion with the directors and with French philosopher Alain Brossat.
- Tariq Teguia. Philosopher and visual artist, photographer, teacher in art history at the College of Fine Arts of Algiers, and filmmaker. Author of four short films : "Kech’mouvement" (1996), "Le chien" (1996), "Ferrailles d’attente" (1998) and "La clôture" (2002) and three feature films presented in this program.
- Fernand Melgar. Autodidactic documentary filmmaker and producer coming from the Swiss underground rock scene. He has directed several documentaries related to immigration issues.
- Alain Brossat. Professor Emeritus at the Department of Philosophy at Paris-8 Saint-Denis. “He is the author of "Autochtone imaginaire, étranger imaginé. Retours sur la xénophobie ambiante" (éditions du Souffle)", "Le plébéien enragé : Une contre-histoire de la modernité de Rousseau à Losey" and "Le passager clandestin, novembre 2013". His work focuses particularly on the genealogy of contemporary political violence, the forms and features of power, the question of the Plebs.
