Charles Hayward is a drummer who was born in 1951 in England. Together with Charles Bullen and Gareth Willams, he co-founded the band This Heat, where he started his experimental journey in acoustics by using loops from manipulated magnetic tape, found sound, percussions and keyboards. Some of their recorded sessions from 1976 – 1978 were released in 1979, the same year as their paronymous album "Deceit". While Charles Bullen was active in the studio, Charles Hayward also collaborated with Lora Logic, Blurt, Everything But The Girl and Raincoats. He was later part of a new trio called Camberwell Now (Charles Hayward + Trefor Goronwy + Stephen Rickard) that released a few albums on the Swiss label Recommended. Since 1987, Charles Hayward has pursued a solo career, occasionally collaborating with Fred Frith and Bill Laswell, aka Massacre. For this concert, Charles Hayward has brought his trunk of song-making devices, complete with electronic tricks and melodica.
